Workshop FAQs

Is this for beginners?
It’s for photographers with a DSLR that want to more fully explore their creativity beyond shooting in Automatic or ‘P’ mode.  We offer beginner and aspiring intermediate photographers, previously daunted by MANUAL MODE, the opportunity to take full control of their cameras to create better images.

This workshop is designed for those relatively comfortable with their camera. Beginner, aspiring and intermediate photographers will benefit from this workshop if not using manual to its full potential.

Is this a technical workshop?
Yes.  This workshop is designed specifically to address questions and techniques regarding the Exposure Triangle – ISO, Shutter Speed & Aperture. We offer great examples, diagrams, and take-home class material to help you understand the concepts.

Why should I attend this workshop?
We want you to learn the magic of shooting manual, and the creative potential that will be at your fingertips. Once you learn manual, you will almost never go back to shooting in automatic mode. We are two gals with a big passion for photography, and we believe in offering workshops that are fun and interactive providing you with new skills that will translate into developing your photography!

What kind of camera do I need?
This course is suitable for compact digital or DSLR cameras with a manual mode setting (M).

What do I need to bring to the workshop?
Your camera, memory cards, charged batteries, flash, camera manual, and a tripod.  We highly recommend bringing a tripod – slow shutter speeds and night photography! Also, dress according to the weather- be warm!- as we’ll be shooting outside.

Is there an age restriction?
This workshop is geared for adults. If there is enough interest with kids and teens, we will certainly consider offering another class geared to younger participants.  If you have a mature teen interested in this workshop we will consider on an individual basis – contact us to inquire.

Where is the class located?
We are so pleased to be offering this workshop at the the beautiful St. Eugene Mission Golf Resort & Casino near Cranbrook, BC!  Located against a tremendous backdrop, it makes available historic buildings and exceptional natural environs… SO many great photo opportunities just outside the door.

Does the price include accommodations?
No, the price of the workshop does not include accommodation at St. Eugene Mission Golf Resort & Casino.   The price includes the workshop only.  However, to get the most out of your weekend with us, St. Eugene Mission Golf Resort & Casino is offering a workshop rate of only $89/night plus tax– a great price for this fabulous hotel!

Should I pack food & drinks?

We will be providing you with coffee, tea, bottled water and snacks throughout the day, but not lunch.  You are welcome to bring a bag lunch but we encourage you to join us to continue the photography conversation over a lovely lunch in one of the great restaurants at St. Eugene’s (TBD).

What is the cost?
The cost is $295 if you register before October 8, 2016;  $349 after that with REGISTRATION ENDING OCTOBER 26TH!  The workshop includes approximately 15 hours of personal instruction by two professional photographers. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited!
